Dr. Rajeswari Muthuswamy is board certified in Child/Adolescent and Adult Psychiatry and she has been practicing in the New Jersey area for over 10 years. She is the recipient of Indian National Merit Scholarship and attended Madras Medical College, which is one of the prestigious medical schools in India. She did her General Psychiatry Residency training in Brookdale University Hospital in Brooklyn, NY. She was chosen to be the Chief Resident during her fourth year of residency program. She finished her Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship at the UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School Program in 2007. She was a faculty in the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Division at the Rutgers UBHC (University Behavioral Health Care) for 10 years. She was twice awarded the Outstanding Teaching Award by the Child and Adolescent Fellowship Program at the Rutgers UBHC for her excellence in teaching. She was also conferred the America’s Top Psychiatrists Award in 2011 by the Consumers Research Council of America.
Dr. Muthuswamy specializes in mental health issues of children, adolescents, and young adults with particular focus on the following:
· Autism and Autism Spectrum Disorder (previously known as Asperger Disorder, Pervasive Developmental Disorder)
· Social skills issues
· ADHD
· Anxiety, OCD, School phobia
· Mood disorders including Depression, Bipolar Disorder, and Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder
· Significant thought disturbances
· Gender dysphoria and related issues
providing psycho education, individual and family counseling, and medication management.
Dr. Muthuswamy provides consultation services to various school districts in New Jersey.
